I am an artist and writer. For ten years I have made ceramics and sculpture — mythic creatures, vessels, objects with teeth. The work has been shown in London and lives now mostly in private collections.
I am currently going back through the archive: ten years of work, notebooks, journals and typescripts, reading it as material rather than as a record. That process is in aid of what comes next, and I am not yet certain what that is. I am fairly sure it will not look like what came before.
I am writing a book. Oxblood is a long-form essay on endometriosis and medical misogyny — an argument for the reclamation of the ‘hysterical’, framed through ten years of diagnosis and five surgeries. It weaves research, history and journal entries written across the decade. It is in progress, and it is the reason for the retreat.
For the last two years I built Midnight, a blockchain platform for artist provenance and royalties. It came out of a straightforward problem: work leaves an artist’s hands and its history disappears with it, along with any share in what happens next. The infrastructure exists and I expect it to matter again.
I am abroad for around fourteen months. I will be making work, writing, and releasing the archive slowly — piece by piece, out of order, as it makes sense to. Dispatches go out from wherever I am. You can subscribe to receive them, or read them here.
