I left London at the end of September for Kathmandu, where I am for the next two months, with time in Dhaka and then elsewhere after that. I am here to allow the time and space needed for experimentation, with the intention of holding work back for exhibition while I explore parts of the world with no relationship to my own.
These days are spent writing and making initial drawings in preparation for small works on Lokta paper, a medium unique to Nepal. I have not turned my back on ceramics, and as this city is known for it, in time I will delve into the clay-underbelly of Kathmandu to continue my work from another perspective, another place entirely.
Underneath it all is the same preoccupation: the feminine that is silenced, in medicine and in myth, and in my own experience with endometriosis, which taught me how quietly a woman can be overruled.
This is where the work is kept, and where I write from. Put your name below if you would like to be written to.
